We are proud to announce that Arkoslight has achieved “carbon neutral” company status. This milestone reflects our commitment to sustainability and to a more responsible management of our environmental impacts.
Why did we launch this initiative and how was it achieved?
Achieving carbon neutrality is a key objective within Arkoslight’s sustainability strategy, aimed at minimising the environmental impacts of our activity.
The installation of solar panels in 2022 and their expansion in 2024 have made it possible to reduce electricity consumption by 15% over the last four years.
In addition, the Quality and Environmental Policy establishes commitments to continuous improvement, pollution prevention and emissions control.
As a result, the diesel consumption of our vehicle fleet has been reduced by more than 12% over two years, helping to minimise atmospheric emissions.
How did we validate our carbon footprint?
After compiling data from the last four years, the official Registry of the Ministry for Ecological Transition verified the calculations and published the Carbon Footprint results in its official list, awarding Arkoslight the “Calculate, Reduce and Offset” seal.
How was the calculation carried out?
Two types of emissions were considered when calculating our carbon footprint:
- Scope 1: direct emissions generated by our own activities.
- Scope 2: indirect emissions associated with the production of the electricity we consume.
Why are we a “Carbon Neutral” company?
We are “Carbon Neutral” because we offset all the CO₂ emissions we generate.
We have offset 100% of our emissions (57 tonnes of CO₂eq) through the purchase of carbon credits from a validated reforestation project.
Reforestation project we have participated in:
The carbon credits acquired come from a reforestation project located in the municipality of Valdés, Asturias, SPAIN (code 2024-b440). The project covers an area of 5.37 hectares replanted with native pine trees, in which Arkoslight has collaborated.
Obtaining this recognition highlights a working model based on transparency and responsibility, where the measurement and offsetting of emissions are considered key elements for more sustainable development.
This progress is even more significant considering that Arkoslight continues on its growth path, in terms of turnover and the expansion of its headquarters in 2024, coinciding with the company’s 40th anniversary.
This achievement represents a further step in Arkoslight’s strategy, based on a long-term decarbonisation plan aimed at ensuring permanent carbon emissions neutrality.
