On 26 and 27 June, we attended the IALD Enlighten Europe 2025 lighting conference, where we proudly participated as Gold Sponsors. Over two days, renowned speakers from the lighting sector inspired us with their unique perspectives on design.
«There’s nothing faster, physically, for the human eye than light.»
MARK LLOYD, Trend Lighting
It may sound like a familiar concept, but when it comes to designing a luminaire, it goes much deeper.
Lighting designer Veronika Mayerbock highlighted that light is the first thing we see upon waking, the element that allows us to become part of a space rather than mere observers. It is fleeting, pure emotion—the same emotion that helps create lasting memories. Ziad Fattouh and Erin Denkovska from Delta Lighting argued that light should evoke joy, happiness, and memory, making it the central and essential concept in a project.
Light becomes a bridge between architecture and the human body. That’s why it’s important to distinguish between simply observing a space and truly becoming part of it.
By choosing the right luminaires, lighting can serve as the central thread of a project—conveying its narrative or creating a theatrical setting where emotions take centre stage. As Kevan Shaw, lighting designer at EFLA, pointed out, a lighting designer’s role is not only to fulfil technical requirements, but also to achieve emotional impact. Creativity and the human element must be at the core.
In Search of Synergy with Nature
A recurring theme in each session was the “changing environment” — how we should move beyond simply illuminating spaces, and instead consider how natural light and outdoor elements influence the atmosphere. Understanding this allows us to create lighting designs that adapt to the rhythm of the day, the season, and the environment. This not only ensures year-round lighting quality but also supports the body’s natural rhythm.

«If you had to choose one colour temperature for the rest of your life, what would it be?»
That’s the question we asked several lighting designers during IALD Enlighten Europe 2025. Their answer was clear: warm light—because it means more than just colour temperature.
For many, it symbolises comfort, emotional connection, wellbeing, and humanity. It’s the light that embraces intimate moments, gently wraps around us, and brings life to spaces in a subtle yet powerful way.
Hearing these reflections from professionals who turn light into art is deeply inspiring. It reaffirms our mission to create luminaires that not only illuminate but also connect with emotion and enrich the atmosphere.
