Casa Velázquez

A contemporary home in the Salamanca district, where the fluidity of spaces and the contrast of materials create a serene and elegant atmosphere. The materiality, between natural and stained oak, together with white surfaces, amplifies the light and reinforces the sense of balance and harmony.

Balance between material, light, and proportion

Located in the Salamanca district, this generously sized home is conceived from a contemporary perspective that highlights the fluidity of spaces and the contrast between its materials. The intervention by Nhoma Estudio responds to a clear intention: to create a serene, elegant, and timeless atmosphere, in dialogue with the building’s modern architecture.

Upon entering, a curved shelving unit separates the entrance from the living room and anticipates the spatial experience inside: a sequence of large, visually connected spaces. The living-dining area opens to the main façade, bathed in natural light streaming through large windows, the protagonist during the day. Above the dining table, the luminaire Loop introduces a subtle, sculptural gesture that complements the space, adding character and precision to the lighting.

General lighting is provided by Swap S, whose discreet integration reinforces the formal clarity of the ensemble and ensures uniform visual comfort. Its presence accompanies the architecture without imposing itself, allowing the materials and natural light to define the atmosphere.

The kitchen, located between the interior courtyard and the dining area, is articulated through wooden and glass swing doors that allow the space to be opened or closed as needed, maintaining its independence without losing visual continuity. A long corridor, softened by a glass partition that captures light and blurs its boundaries, leads to the more private area, where four en-suite bedrooms with bathrooms and dressing rooms are arranged.

The choice of materials largely defines the character of the home. Natural oak flooring coexists with darker stained oak in paneling and furniture, contrasted with white surfaces that amplify the natural light throughout all spaces.
