Minimal Track – Red Dot Design Award Winner 2020

Minimal Track, the miniaturized track system designed by Rubén Saldaña – Arkoslight’s product manager – has been awarded with two Red Dot Design Award 2020. In addition to this Red Dot Design Award in the lighting category, Minimal Track has obtained the Red Dot Innovative Product Award. This special category has been created this year to stand out the most innovative design products. Minimal Track was the single lighting product to receive this recognition in 2020. This extraordinary prize for its innovation has been awarded to Minimal Track because, according to the jury, “it presents differentiating factors compared to the current design.” The technical characteristics of Minimal Track “distinguish it from the rest of the lighting products on the market” and “makes its way as one of the best lighting products due to its miniaturized design and ease of installation”.

The Red Dot Design Award is an international product design and communication design prize awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. Since 1955, designers and producers can apply for the prizes with the winners being presented in an annual ceremony. Winning products are presented in the Red Dot Design Museum on the premises of the historical Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen.

An ultrafine profile

Minimal Track is a low voltage (24V) surface track system, where the miniaturization of the profile, luminaires and components reaches a new paradigm. Its ultrafine design is perceived as a minimalist line on the ceiling, creating a trimless visual effect. The system is composed of a matt black anodized aluminium profile and a flexible rectangular-section conductor. The two elements merge into total visual uniformity along the whole path. Measuring 15 mm wide and 10 mm high, its surface application is practically imperceptible, with no connections, fastening elements or connection tracks in sight.
